Everday objects sculpted into art stimulates the imagination in a way ordinary works can rarely achieve. Artist and craftsman Sam Mobley sees the material as the protagonist; telling an authentic story that doesn’t try to cover up or hide its past but to let that guide the creation. These notions feed this project and the construction of recycled cardboard and found materials breathed interest into the final concept. The result is three full-size cardboard gondola cars that hung in the Colorado Convention Center as a piece of programming for the Art of Winter during the 2012 SIA Snow Show.
